Ellen’s inspiration for Overgangsbox came during a particularly challenging time. During the COVID-19 lockdown, while her husband was isolated due to illness, Ellen found herself battling menopausal symptoms alone in her garden. Determined to make a difference, Ellen embarked on a mission to create a supportive resource for women everywhere.

The contents of the box vary depending on the stage of menopause, ensuring that each woman receives the support she needs when she needs it.

Since its inception, Overgangsbox has steadily grown in popularity. Ellen personally packs each box, adding a personal touch to her service. On average, she sends out two boxes per week, with hopes of increasing this number significantly. While the primary market is within the Netherlands, there have been orders from Belgium as well.

Ellen is proud of her achievements, from starting her own business to gaining media attention. She has been featured in NH Dagblad and on TV IJmond, and has even given presentations in libraries, spreading awareness and understanding about menopause. Her goal is to further increase visibility and reach, aiming to collaborate with healthcare providers to offer Overgangsboxes as part of menopausal care.

Ellen’s vision is for every woman to feel supported and understood during menopause. She hopes that in the future, healthcare professionals will provide vouchers for Overgangsboxes, ensuring that every woman has access to the resources and support they need.
